The Star

The "Machi" is the shaman for the Mapuche culture, from the south of Chile.

This is the High Priestess.

One of the few Minor that is done and one of my favourites.

All the paintings are done on The Langton Extra smooth (hot pressed) grain satiné, 300g/m2 from Daler Rowney ...even though this paper is for watercolour, it works perfectly well for pencil colours.

I've used all sorts of pencil colours for the cards, from water colour pencils such as Inktense, Graphitint, Rexel (all 3 from Derwent), Albrecht Durer (Faber Castell), to traditional pencil colours, such as Pablo (Caran D'ache), Polycromos (Faber Castell) ,Bruynzeel and every pencil colour I have come across.

In some cases, for details, I've use a thin brush on the watercolour pencils... and yet considering the size of the drawing themselves, too much detail is almost impossible.

The original size of the all the drawings is 15,4 x 22,8 cms.

The final card size would be 8,1 x 12,9 cms.
